I was at the 5-1 relegation game. Walked out of my French GCSE written exam 15 mins early so I could get my train. 6 cans of McEwan's (remember that shit?) On the train up, battered

It was just after Hillsborough, really weird atmosphere about the place, but for all the tears, the fans carried on as if nothing happened from what I can remember. Went mental when we equalised, and as sold said we were right in it.

I got an 'A' in my exam so, 'va te faire foutre' Mr Hipkin, who threatened to fail me for leaving early.

The 4-1 on Capital Gold is one of my abiding memories as an 11 year old. My old girl had a right go at me for calling my mate at about 10pm after the game (land lines only in those days) to get right in his grill.

Forest, Norwich, Derby all finished in the top 5 that season, Man Utd finished mid-table, how times have changed!

It was first game of the season. A cracking free kick against big Oggy Ogrizovic. And then, yes, up to Old Trafford for a 3-2 win, dreams of certain glory, to be followed by the wheels falling off our season. Ended up 15th.

Gale's other free kick was one nil at home to Coventry in 86/87. I think it was first home game of the season. I'm not sure if he scored any other free kicks?

Yeah that was it Eggy... scrambled a 1-0 win IIRC... then went up to OT and knocked 3 past them and all of us thought we was gonna win the league!!

A load of us was listening to the 5-1 game outside Anfield at a burger bar (couldn't get in)... we deffo equalised... sounded like we was right in the game until that cunt McMahon snapped Incey in half and put him out of the game.... strange night...

I remember a load of people giving Reggie a right mouthful before he took the freekick .... although give his due I think he had scored with one back in 1986!! Magnificent legendary game and just so typical of us...

I was in the North Bank with a perfect view of Galey's Payet and Ince's drop kick. Like a few have said on this, at the time, beating THAT Liverpool team, no, mullering THAT Liverpool, was about the most shocking result we've ever had, more so than when the likes of Wrexham would knock us out of the cups.

They beat us 5-1 at their place that year the last match which we had to win to stay up

Let it equalised but we got done on the break at the end

That was the game that meant Arsenal had to go to anfield and win by two which they famously did

Had to miss this game as my Dad couldn't go, was gutted. Sure I listened to it on the radio instead!

Also still remember jumping around listening to the radio when Rosenoir put us 1-0 up at Anfield on our last game of the season which we had to win to stay up. Was convinced we were staying up.

The 5-2 game was 86-87. I think it was 2-2 the previous season.
